I hver sal presenteres store, keramiske installasjoner, som både bryter og utfordrer materialets unike kvalitet, historie, muligheter og begrensinger.
Forløp er av kunstneren komponert nøysomt, hvor hvert rom inviterer til et uunngåelig fysisk møte. Hva er et rom – mentalt og fysisk? Hvordan navigerer vi og leser et rom eller et landskap hvor gitte perspektiver endres? Hva skjer med oss når vi står under en porselenshimling eller spaserer forbi en passasje av tak, som vi vanligvis går under?
Martin Woll Godal har i sitt kunstnerskap gjennomgående utforsket materialiteten i leire og keramikk. Han jobber empatisk med håndverket, kunsten og arkitekturen som en helhet – i både store og små formater.
Bio
Martin Woll Godal (f. 1982, Bærum, oppvokst i Trysil) bor og arbeider i Arendal. Han er utdannet ved Kunst- og Designhøgskolen i Bergen, og har hatt flere seperatutstillinger samt deltatt i nasjonale og internasjonale gruppeutstillinger. Dette inkludere Uppsala Konstmusum, Clay Danmarks keramikkmuseum, Archangelsk Artist Union Gallery i Russland, og Peder Blake senteret. Woll Godal er innkjøpt av Nasjonalmuseet, Kunstsilo, Uppsala Konstmuseum og KODE.

Forløp (Sequence)
In each gallery, large ceramic installations are presented, breaking with and challenging the material’s unique qualities, history, possibilities, and limitations.
Sequence is carefully composed by the artist, with each room inviting an unavoidable physical encounter. What is a space—mentally and physically? How do we navigate and interpret a room or a landscape where given perspectives shift? What happens to us when we stand beneath a porcelain sky or pass by a corridor of ceilings we would normally walk under?
Throughout his practice, Martin Woll Godal has consistently explored the materiality of clay and ceramics. He works empathetically with craft, art, and architecture as a whole—across both large and small formats.
Bio
Martin Woll Godal (b. 1982, Bærum; raised in Trysil) lives and works in Arendal. He was educated at the Bergen Academy of Art and Design and has held several solo exhibitions as well as participated in national and international group shows. These include Uppsala Art Museum, CLAY Museum of Ceramic Art Denmark, Archangelsk Artist Union Gallery in Russia, and the Peder Balke Center. Woll Godal’s work is represented in the collections of the National Museum, Kunstsilo, Uppsala Art Museum, and KODE.
